During the workshop hold the week preceding the 9th International Conference on Copepoda (ICOC 9) in Tunisia in July 2005, the participants discussed the lack of sharing the know-how about copepod culture. These cultures are for many of us the main work tool because field works do not always bring the amount of data needed to parameterize model. Also, comparisons between species from different geographical origins were shown to react differently to similar environmental conditions. In order to facilitate the sharing of strains, we decided to develop a copepod culture data base. This experience is a first step and the data base should be enriched from everybody's experience. We will be grateful to share your opinion about it and will be glad to add your cultures to the list, please, feel free to contact us.Guillaume Drillet and Gael Dur |
